AU Summary

·Originally a prince from Wycome, Fai's parents were murdered by his uncle in a bid to secure his seat as Lord Chancellor. Shortly thereafter he and his twin were separated and imprisoned in an arctic valley by his Uncle, hidden within an eluvian, who then claimed their father had killed them before taking his and his wife's life. While imprisoned, his Uncle brought in a Magister who placed a curse on both boys - one designed to drive anyone that loves them slowly mad, though they didn't believe it at first. Not until later. Until then, both he and Fai tried, every day, to reach each other, until Fai accidentally fell to his death from the tower. It was then that Yuui believed in the curse. After that, Yuui stopped trying. He was eventually freed by an Orlesian ally of his father's and was taken to Ashura's estate in Val Royeaux, where he took Fai's name as his own. · Ashura ensured Fai had the finest education offered at both the Circle in Val Royeaux and earlier by having him trained by a Magister's senior apprentice in secret. It wasn't until his Uncle started sending assassins to Val Royeaux that he finally sent Fai to a Circle tower, to better hide and protect him. Throughout it all, Ashura treated him more like a son than a ward, and when his 'health' began to fail, he'd negotiated Fai's allowance to live at his estate and serve as his proxy at Court. It was a privileged, seemingly idealistic life... that is, until Ashura fell prey to Fai's curse. In doing so, Ashura ended up killing everyone on their estate with blood magic - his attempt to grow powerful enough to protect Fai from his Uncle - while Fai was attending a gala at the First Enchanter, Vivienne's, lover's estate. Fai, however, returned early and barely escaped with his life, opting to place Ashura under a sleeping spell (one that left his body in a seemingly petrified stasis) when he'd been unable to strike down his lord and mentor. He covered the truth, blamed the rebel mages and bandits, and removed himself to their winter estate in the High Quarter in Halamshiral as the acting Marquis in his lord's stead. · When the mage rebellion began, he had sided with Wynne in voting against it. He believed there had to be a better way to change the plight of mages than chaotic violence and that the rebels were desperate and misguided. After the Inquisition began to gain momentum and his mentor went mad, however, he began to travel across Orlais to gain a more practical understanding of the realities facing the mages and citizens within his country. · He's an exceptionally strong mage with considerable mana reserves that can use fire, ice, and storm spells - as well as summon fade weapons due to his specialization. He cannot, however, use any form of healing or cleansing magic. · He's never tried blood magic, has only recently been exposed to it first-hand, but due to his Tevene influence, isn't overly prejudiced against it.
